Debunking Christianity: Dr. Bill Craig, Frank Walton, and me.

Debunking Christianity: Dr. Bill Craig, Frank Walton, and me.

Frank Walton criticized me for basically name-dropping on his site.

I noticed Frank doesn't allow for any comments on his blog, like I have allowed him on mine. I'm not opposed to differing opinions. They help us to think and they make us grow. So I've decided to publish what he said and try to offer a response. I did eliminate one reference to Dr. Craig though, okay? :)

Some thoughts:

I'm not sure what he means when he says Carrier and Barker are trying to make a name off of Christians. Such a claim doesn't really make sense to me. They just want to debunk Christianity, like I do.

The accusation of name-dropping isn't so bad if that's the best charge he can make against me, now is it? And while he misaccuses me of some ad hominem argument, he should focus on the substance of what I put on my blog, even if I'm merely providing links to other arguments.

Take for example Richard Carrier's few paragraphs copied in my previous post, below. Frank, try dealing with that next time, okay?

I'll be updating my blog/links listings from time to time, depending on the content of those blogs. Don't be surprised if I delete yours if that's the best you can do. I want reasonable links and/or blogs, and it may take me a while to find the best ones--ones which don't resort to ridicule and contain a higher level of thinking. I'm looking for suggestions to make this blog a pretty damn good one.

Frank Walton:
What Loftus is saying in effect is this, "I know that Dr. Craig is one of the greatest modern Christian thinkers. I was even a student of his! But guess what, I'm not a Christian anymore. Which goes to show how unconvincing Dr. Craig is!"

Actually, what I'm saying is that the arguments just aren't there, period, no matter who the defender of Christianity happens to be. If it's true of Dr. Craig's arguments, then it should be true of most all other apologists, although, I know I'm just speaking for myself.

By telling you I was his former student I got your attention, didn't I? What's wrong with that? People usually want to know of our credentials. Isn't that something you'd like to know? If you were a former student of his, I'm sure we'd hear about it too.

In a way, I would like to pressure Bill into debating me. I had initially asked him if he would want to co-author a book as a dialogue between a professor and former student, but he declined, saying "that would give me no joy."

I will say this though, it took a major crisis in my life plus nearly six intense years of thinking and soul-searching to break free from the arguments I had once defended. The last two beliefs of mine I rejected were the resurrection of Jesus and then later the belief in God. These two beliefs of mine were so well ingrained within me, especially as the result of Dr. Craig's teaching and writing, that they were the last ones I rejected. For me, his arguments were very tough to break free of, but in the end, I did break free of them. Not because of rebellion against God or him, but just as the result of the logical educated process of thought.

Another thing. I like Bill very much. I recently told him that I have nothing personal against him, and that I was sorry if I am an embarrassment to him. But the arguments just were not there, period. I have to follow what I believe to be the truth. That's all I can do.

And since I don't believe in Christianity, I want to help others break free from it's narrow-minded, superstitious, guilt producing, and pre-scientific thinking.

Besides, from the look of most of the crap on your site, you are a hack, a lousy, foulmouthed imbecile. Why don't you learn the basics of the english language first, then move on to debating. Plus you're a coward. And you suck.
I personally have no time for the likes of you.

Toodles Furyanus

The real Frank Walton

There we go with the blind assumptions again....... Frank, your calling me a coward and yet you refuse to debate. Thats Cowardliness. I suck eh? Frank you have yet to debate me. Frank if your going to act so better than me. Then how about you prove it. Your all bark and no action, pitiful. Even Christians note your cowardliness. Even "destinylab" The delusional man who believes alien's are demons CALLED YOU A COWARD. The most delusional Christian on the on this little blue planet has a beef with you. That tells me something about you frank. At least "destinylab" who may be 3 fries shorter than a happy meal is honest. A delusional Christian atleast has some decency.

Frank, the only thing you ARE capable of doing is talking out of your ass, making assumptions, and spitting out childish insults.

No frank I'm not coming to your little forum. If you want to PROVE you are better than me, It will be right here, right now. Until you debate me frank, your nothing but what you just called me, "you are a hack, a lousy, foulmouthed imbecile" Hypocrite.

Frank what you call a moderated debate more than likely involves a whole forum full of Christians whom are on your side. that would edit posts that contained blasphemous comments, and my favorite word of all "Fuck"

No thank you, It will be right here, Furyan's yard.

Debunking Christianity: Why Do Some People Hate Frank Walton?

Debunking Christianity: Why Do Some People Hate Frank Walton?

Frank Walton complains about being harrassed by atheists in the comments section here, when he said:

Since having gone public with my website and blogsite I had threats hurled at me, racist comments made against me because of the color of my skin, my wife's name and our home address and phone number publicly published on a website and blogsite (I have this all documented by the way). I received one threat (via e-mail) so disturbing (he talked of raping my wife and lynching me) I had to call the police to see if we can find the guy.

Not only that but agnostic Ed Babinski has hounded me for not giving out personal information about myself (where I'm from, what school I go to, my major, etc.). I told him that I didn't want to give out said information because I crave a certain amount of anonymity. It's for my protection from any fundamentalist atheist who may lash out at me or harass me. Guess what? Babinski didn't care. Instead of respecting my privacy, he continued to send me e-mails over and over and over again requesting personal info about myself. He went so far as to go to a Christian forum and accused me of "avoidance apologetics" and to provoke some personal information about myself!
[To read Ed's response see Ed's side of the story].

Poor Frank Walton. There's just something about him that causes atheists to hate him. He maligns and disrespects and berates us at every opportunity. Then when he reports how mad atheists get over his tactics the story gets even further twisted to make it sound much worse than it really is. He may have a persecution complex for all I know. He wants to be hated for Jesus' sake, so he hates. He hates those who attack his God, and any tactic including lies and exaggerations and half truths in defending his God from our arguments is his mission. He brings most all of it on himself, and I do not believe him when he claims he's been persecuted like he says he has, either. I believe he's a fabricator of the truth and a liar.

The truth is that atheists and Christians alike can bring people to hate them for being offensive and for personal attacks. People cannot take personal attacks for long before they get mad. And in this sense Walton brings it on himself. It's just hard to ignore someone who is this obnoxious and this stupid.

So here's Walton's strategy everyone: Provoke atheists by calling them names, by sidetracking conversations, by quoting them out of context, by belittling and berating them, and when they finally respond he plays the sympathy card. Even a puppy dog can be provoked to bite back, Walton.

I know I should ignore him, but it's just tough to do, since he constantly dogs my steps. His tactics deserve to be exposed for what they really are...sick. No one on his website is as stupid or as vile as he makes them out to be. Furthermore, anyone who will reasonably discuss what we write here at Debunking Christianity receives a polite discussion in return, as everyone who regularly reads my Blog knows full well. It's just that when it comes to us here at DC Walton and some others of his ilk personally attack us. I expected it. But I don't like it. There is a fortress mentality among some Christians that when they see us attempt to debunk their faith it's seen as a serious personal affront to themselves and to their God. We don't see ourselves intending anything personal here. We just disagree, that's all.

Walton's whole tactic is to poison the well.

Walton and Paul Manata continue to attack me for one comment I made in February of 2006 when I predicted that Paul would probably beat his wife based on his conversion story, something which I said after Paul had harrassed me constantly for weeks. I wish I hadn't said it, and I'm sorry for having done so. Please note that I never said I hoped Paul would beat his wife. I actually said that I hope he does not do anything of the sort, only that his behavior tells a different story. To see what was actually said see here.

Once Walton was so bad that he was forced to remove objectional material from his website.
